| Teiken Limited (president: Kenji Maruoka, Chuo-ku, Osaka), a subsidiary of NI Teijin Shoji Co., Ltd. (president: Junji Morita, Chuo-ku, Osaka), recently succeeded in producing "comfortable heat-resistant underwear" on a commercial basis and will start to market products late in October. The following is the outline of the products. |

| 1. Background of Development |
|
When suppressing fires and in areas where radiant heat is severe, firefighters wear fireproof or heat-resistant clothing. For protection from fire, underwear plays an important role. Most preferably, firefighters should also wear underwear that is flame-resistant (self-extinguishing function) like fireproof or heat-resistant clothing. Unfortunately, the present situation is that such underwear has been marketed only for limited use by firefighters. In addition, no underwear has considered the comfort of users, and development of new underwear has long been awaited.
Due to the necessity of developing heat-resistant underwear, which protects the body from a harsh high-temperature working environment, the company advanced the development of products in 2006, and we recently succeeded in manufacturing products on a commercial basis. |

| 2. Product Strategy and Features |
|
| The comfortable heat-resistant underwear has a double-layered structure, rib-fabric with a reversible composition, using a material made from mixing TEIJINCONEX®, a heat-resistant aramid fiber, and fire-retardant rayon. The structure shuts out the heat energy caused by high external temperatures. In addition, by applying a perspiration absorptive finish, the material absorbs perspiration at least equivalent to underwear made of cotton. |

We plan to market the products for furnace, casting, and fusing work for blast furnaces, electric furnaces, and glass manufacturers. We will start marketing in late October. |
