President Tetsushi Takenaka
Greetings. I am Tetsushi Takenaka. I have recently become president of N.I. Teijin Shoji, Co., Ltd.

I assume this post while we are still in the aftermath of the recent occurrence of the Great East Japan Earthquake. I extend my deepest condolences to all who have been affected and my heartfelt prayers for the speediest possible recovery in the damaged regions.

Teijin Group is currently trying to be useful toward relief for quake victims and rebuilding quake-hit areas. For this purpose, it is donating relief money, and providing aid supplies, including blankets, masks, fire-resistant mats, and thermal clothing.

From now on, in the Tokyo metropolitan area as well, disruptions in modes of transportation and various other life infrastructure due to rolling blackouts, etc., are expected. At the N.I. Teijin Shoji Group, we are quietly advancing our company's business while flexibly dealing with commuting and client visits by our employees.

N.I. Teijin Shoji, which was born after the merger in April 2001, has now reached its 10-year anniversary. With the global market as our stage, we are expanding our operations on the double axes of the apparel textile business and industrial materials business, and securing our status as the number one textile trading company.

The core of N.I. Teijin Shoji's corporate philosophy is to be a “group of professionals that develops limited resources to add further value by making full use of its people, technology and functions,” and to promise to “contribute to the international community as a trading company of the future that takes a passionate interest in researching the latest textile culture, thereby creating a truly rich living environment.”

We have set the following “3C1H” action guidelines for our employees toward the realization of our goal of becoming a “trading company of the future.”

Change : Sense any change acutely and respond to it speedily.
Challenge : With an eye on tomorrow, and an eye on the future, challenge possibilities and limits.
Create : Cherish flexible ideas and create new values.
Harmony : Respect each other's differences and cultivate a new company spirit.

N.I. Teijin Shoji breaks from the conventional model of trading companies as mere intermediary companies that purchase and deliver materials. Instead, N.I. Teijin Shoji offers a new business model, in which we are a trading company of action.

In addition to the basic functions required of a trading company such as logistics, credit, and data, the N.I. Teijin Shoji Group provides stronger value creation capabilities, which we refer to as the three C's: Coordinate, Compound, and Convert. We are committed to achieving sustainable growth by responding to the functional needs of our clients and also by working with our clients to develop more sophisticated services.

In this regard, we hope that you have high expectations for us and we ask for your continued support.
